PRESS RELEASE
OKQ8 and Coca-Cola in Sweden continue their collaboration for reduced climate impact with a new initiative to increase the collection of packaging. By placing common collection containers at selected OKQ8 stations in Stockholm, the aim is to make it easy for station visitors to collect their empty beverage containers and thus contribute to a circular economy. The deposit money goes directly to the aid organization VI-skogen.
OKQ8 and Coca-Cola in Sweden continue to work together to contribute to a better environment and a reduced climate footprint. Today, around 87 percent of all packaging is collected in Sweden, a percentage that both companies want to help increase by simplifying the collection of packaging for people on the road.
- We are happy that, together with OKQ8, we have the opportunity to run yet another initiative with the aim of reducing the climate footprint of our packaging. We aim for every packaging sold to be collected by 2030. By collaborating with our customers, we can facilitate collection and prevent littering in nature and in our waters in Sweden, says Mattias Bokvist, commercial director for Away from Home at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Sweden.
At the beginning of November, 48 collection containers were placed at 16 OKQ8 stations in the Stockholm area, three containers per station. Through clear graphics on the containers, it is clear that the pledge money is donated in full to the aid organization VI-skogen, which works to fight poverty and improve the environment through tree planting.
- Packaging that is not collected and recycled is a contributing cause of both littering and increased CO2 emissions, which is why we are happy about the collaboration with Coca-Cola. It is completely in line with our sustainability goals and to constantly improve the customer experience at our stations, says Agnes Palinski, communications manager at OKQ8.
